Haunted
June 2026
The spectre of the irrational is haunting the world. We call the spirits!
During the nights around Midsummer, that liminal time when the boundaries between our world and the spirit world open up, a historic garden house on the banks of the Elbe in Hamburg becomes the setting for a performative séance. A medium, acting as a spiritual guide, reimagines this practice using occult performance techniques, magical objects and haunted sounds. Stories are told of crime, horror and violence, but also of resistance and solidarity. The audience is part of the séance and is drawn into interpretations and bizarrely supernatural entanglements.
In a present where the boundaries between knowledge, conviction and conspiracy are blurring in politics and the media, the question of what we consider credible becomes a question of power. HAUNTED is a performative séance about the ghosts that haunt us, about the banal within the monstrous, and about the voices that seduce us.
